Frugal Fridays: The Bride's Project

Want to save money and make a difference? Then you need to visit The Bride's Project in Toronto. Founded by Helen Sweet in 2004 shortly after her wedding, The Bride's Project sells discounted new and pre-loved wedding gowns with all of the proceeds going to cancer-related charities. The Bride's Project fills its racks with donations from generous brides across Canada and relies on volunteers to help operate the store. The Bride's Project also sells wedding accessories such as veils, capes, jewelery, shoes and other wedding related items such as baskets, ring bearer pillows and guest books.

Worried about the selection? Be assured that The Bride's Project only accepts wedding dresses that are less than 5 years old in order to provide its brides with the latest styles (so you don't have to worry about '80s taffeta). They also receive donations from many bridal stores across the nation so you may be able to find a brand new or sample gown.

Below is a bride who found her dress at The Bride's Project( left) and a dress currently at The Bride's Project that needs a new home (right).

Already have your gown but still want to help out? Consider donating your gown or your other wedding items after your wedding . Click here for more details on making a donation.

The Bride's Project is located at 431 Broadview Ave in Toronto. Please call ahead for an appointment if you're looking to purchase a gown. If you're not in the Greater Toronto Area and still want to donate, don't fret! The Bride's Project accepts mail-in donations. Visit www.thebridesproject.com for more information.

Many brides get wistful knowing they'll only get to wear their beautiful dress for a few hours but you can turn those few hours into lifetime for you and someone in need. :)

Oh how I've drooled over some of the items posted on her website! Great post! I've been a frequent "window shopper" (of her website), but never thought to post about this great shop.

Thanks for writing about us! We rely on word of mouth because we have no advertising budget. We appreciate the publicity!
