Off to Winnipeg

Hope you're enjoying your weekends. The BF arrived last night and now we're at the airport waiting to board our flight to Winter-peg, I mean Winnipeg. My friend A (remember her dilemma with the green curtains?) is getting married tomorrow in the Peg. The festivities start tonight with a rehearsal/out-of-towners' dinner. Neither the BF or I have been to Winnipeg. Hope the mozzies don't get us.

To avoid mosquitos (aka "skeeters" or "mozzies"):
-Don't wear perfume!
-Don't wear anything with a strong scent. This includes scented deodorant (get something unscented), hair spray and scented body lotions.
-Don't put bugspray on until you need it. Make sure it contains DEET (not appropriate for young children, but it's the best thing on the market).
-Carry citronella plants or citronella candles with you.

It's not fool proof, but it works for me most of the time.

Now if there are deerflies or horseflies ... then the above may not apply. The only thing I've found that works is jumping in a lake and swimming as far as you can while UNDER the water. Sometimes you can lose them!

Have a fun trip! Funny the only time I've been to Winnipeg was for a wedding, as well. Manitoba: the place of never-ending wheat fields and people getting hitched.
