This new "economic reality" is having many 2009 brides reconsider their wedding budgets. Do I really need a 4 tiered cake? Is a Vera Wang a must? Can I live without a full bar? Should I just elope?
A recent Metro News article, How to Tie the Knot without Your Strangling Budget, suggests that many couples are proceeding with their nuptials but have decided to tone down their big day by cutting corners.
The article goes on to highlight It's Your Event, a do-it-yourself wedding planning company based in Nova Scotia. Patricia Pardy, the owner of It's Your Event, advises brides to take control of their event, as opposed to handing the reins over to their parents, future in-laws or wedding planners, and to take control of their budget. Pardy even offers Do-It-Yourself (DIY) wedding workshops, designed to help the most clueless bride to navigate through the wedding planing process allowing her to reduce her stress levels, save time and most importantly, leave her rainy day jar somewhat intact.
