Oscar Fashion Hits and Misses

Happy Monday! Did you watch the Oscars last night? Or should I say, did you check out the gowns last night?! :) Here are my picks for best dressed and worst dressed.

Best Dressed

Diane Kruger can do no wrong in my eyes and last night was no exception. I love this Chanel halter gown with black ribbon accents. It reminds me a lot of Vera Wang's current bridal collection.

Fellow Canadian Rachel McAdams donned this lovely Elie Saab pastel print gown. It's so fun and flirty.

Worst Dressed

Charlize Theron, who is so gorgeous, surprised me with this Dior gown. I just don't get the flower patches on the bust! They're so distracting.

The BF said it best when he remarked, "JLo's dress looks it was made out of bubble wrap." Jennifer Lopez look a bit too bridal for my liking especially she's usually raising the bar on awards show fashion (remember that Grammys dress??!).

I wish I was....

Diane Kruger so I could wear this dress and have "Pacey" on my arm (BF - just make believe!) Not many people can pull off 'mustard', let alone pull if off with such style. This would totally rock as a Hollywood glam wedding gown in white or champagne. Did you have a favourite dress from the SAG awards?

What to Wear When Traveling...Chic 'n Cheap Style

One of my favourite bloggers, Chic 'n Cheap Living has a regular feature titled "What I'd Wear....." in which she styles an outfit to an occasion (e.g. What I'd Wear to an Office Party, What I'd Wear to a Retro-Glam Wedding). Trust me when I say that Chic 'n Cheap missed her calling as a stylist (it's not too late!!) because she has an incredible knack for coming up with stylish outfits which don't break the bank and all available for purchase online!! DIY Birthday Gifts

My lovely friend Christine's birthday is this week and a bunch of us decided to celebrate last Friday night. The night started here and ended here. ;)

Both S. and I decided to make Christine's BD gifts (something I've never done).

This is S's creation. Gorgeous, non? The keyholes were purchased from an antique market in Milan. To see some of S's other creations, click here.

This is my creation....a lovely feather hair clip. (I'm just happy you can't see the glue!!). I bought the feathers from Sussman's Bridal Supplies on Queen Street and the gold button from macFAB.

Worried that Christine would pretend to like my clip and then put away it in a drawer, I also bought her Nina Garcia's latest book, The Style Strategy. Have you've read it yet? I just bought myself a copy and awaiting its arrival!

Project Condo has taken me away from my regularly scheduled shopping trips (and depleted the shoe funds, majorly). These purple beauties may be exactly what puts me back on track. Aren't they lovely? Do Discount Designer Duds Make The Grade?

You already know I love the Target designer lines. Unfortunately, I can't really comment on the quality as compared to the 'original' collection. I just assume the Target collection is made of less expensive materials...how else could they offer the products at such a desirable price? Check out this Wall Street Journal article, "Do Discount Designer Duds Make the Grade" where industry experts are put to test and asked to pick out the "cheap-chic clothes from expensive-chic clothes." Very interesting!
